About ONC
Our Neighbors Child (ONC) is a non-profit, community-based organization, which started out in 1992 by providing holiday gifts for children in low income families in western Fairfax County. Over the years, as western Fairfax has grown, Our Neighbor's Child has grown as well; what began as an endeavor of a few friends helping several dozen children has grown to a network of more than 400 community volunteers that
SERVED OVER 2,300 CHILDREN IN THE CENTREVILLE, CHANTILLY, CLIFTON AND FAIRFAX AREAS IN 2010!
Prior to ONCs involvement, local churches had organized through Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM) to assist these families with food baskets for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, but resources for providing gifts for the children of these families were limited.
In the first year, the then un-named endeavor consisted of a few neighbors who rounded up enough new toys to supply 31 children with gifts for the holidays. In the second year, fifty children received assistance and local businesses and several church youth groups became involved. Over the years, additional volunteers, businesses, local churches and organizations have pitched in and ONC has grown to serve the holiday needs of many families in western Fairfax County. Since ONC is not an organization that represents a specific religious group, friends and neighbors from varied backgrounds have come together as a community to work together. These tireless volunteers make Our Neighbor's Child the success that it is today.
Every dollar you donate goes straight to gifts. ONC spends 0% of donations on overhead. All administrative costs are covered by the founders.
